My pride-kurata
Kurata is a social business enterprise that unites women from Ethiopia, residents of Haifa, in favor of preserving Ethiopian cultural traditions.
"Kurata" women use traditional and artistic motifs From Ethiopian culture, while incorporating them into contemporary Judaica and fashion accessories.
The Haifa women's group numbers about 20 embroiderers, of various ages, who work to promote the project, out of a rooted belief in the importance of conservation.
Traditions of female encounter and handicrafts.
"Kurata for me is the way to reconnect, through all the senses, with the magic known to all members of the community, and sending it into the world through art, patience and love."
The venture is operated by the Haifa Boston Partnership.
The design of the earring houses and the frames of the pendants was done by the Haifa jeweler Jenin Goldbert.
Half of the revenue from the sale of the products Reaches directly to Korata embroideries.
The receipt given for the purchase of the jewelry is recognized as a contribution to tax purposes.
What's new with us?
One of the things we love is to connect contrasts in our jewelry.
On the one hand: the part embroidered in the earring, delicate, colorful and soft. Embroidered with traditional handwork that has been passed down in our community from mother to daughter.
And on the other hand the metal part, hammered in the hammer - the contemporary twist we add to the earring.
The brass cuts emphasize the softly embroidered circles and frame them.
Create an interesting and captivating dialogue with them.
Take place side by side
And maybe that's also thanks to it.

In my works I have always enjoyed incorporating Ethiopian folklore.
Ten years ago, I made a professional transition to social work and began working with the Ethiopian population in Haifa, mainly in their employment integration.
It was clear and natural to me that women come from Ethiopia who bring with them Exceptional handicrafts, must bring their art to the forefront of the stage.
The Korata program was an excellent platform to encourage entrepreneurship and employment upgrades among Ethiopians, for Korata ...
Three years ago I went in to run the Korat program at the Haifa Boston Partnership
And together with my colleagues and the managers of the Haifa Boston Partnership, we managed to make the dream a reality.
I am proud to be a part of the initiatives and founders of my Korata-Pride.
